who is Casper Jones?

Casper Jones is a maker of heart wrenching pop, and the stage spirit of singer- songwriter Chris Reynolds. Casper Jones emerged in the summer of 2003, performing Reynolds' lyrically witty, and sweet semi-pop songs in his home town of Guelph. Becoming Casper Jones is the last stage in a metamorphosis for Reynolds, from a long time-folk busker, to front man for an alt-rock outfit, to finally breaking away as a solo artist and fronting his own band.

Although a new-found friend for performer Chris Reynolds, Casper Jones is “a man with a past”, coming from a long and prolific career as a Caster of Spells and Knower of Many Grand & Elusive Things... In his early days, Casper signed on as Hercules' first mate, charting the Hellenic world, braving the maelstrom of madness, and sailing safely past the Sirens of Titan. Later, as an apprentice to both Pan and Mercury, Casper wooed Juliet for Romeo, Cleopatra for Mack Antony, and Bonnie for Clyde. Casper Jones has slain giants, stolen angels from heaven, won victory for kings and died cold and hungry with the forgotten. Casper Jones has sympathy for the devil...

Now after spending six months in the studio of Bam Records (Beautiful Senseless, Jonny Rainbow), Casper (and the Bam Boys) will proudly release the well-crafted recording, "A Field Guide to Casper Jones" in December 2003.

The music of Casper Jones tours the various aspects of modern lfe, moving between sarcastic attacks on the system that rock way out with a six peice horn section, to the vulnerable subtleties of a voice, an acoustic guitar and an open heart. Although sometimes an openly subversive rocker, Casper Jones sings mostly of love in a time of madness and is ultimately a happy character ( one can only be so unhappy with horns behind you...)

Some musical accomplishments of Chris Reynolds:

  • long-time folk busker, former front man for "the Changlings"
  • played extensively throughout Southern Ontario...(Hillside Festival, Wtloo Busskers Festival, Horseshoe Tavern...)
  • released 3 previous CD's
  • Charted top ten on college radio
